Warwick District creatives celebrated at summer event

Warwick District Council’s Arts Section brought together and celebrated the area’s creative community at their annual Ignite summer social for the sector.

Ignite 2023, held at the Royal Pump Rooms on Thursday 13 July, was attended by over 160 delegates from across the creative industry who connected and engaged over delicious food by The Larder Café, drinks by the Warwickshire Gin Company, and music by Sonrisa Arts, with the Assembly Room transformed with neon lights and palm leaves, creating a summer party atmosphere.

David Guilding, Arts Manager for the Arts Section, welcomed delegates during a short speech, where he introduced the proceedings and reminded attendees why bringing the creative community together is crucial in connecting people and encouraging collaboration.

Councillor Ella Billiald, Portfolio Holder for Arts and Economy at Warwick District Council, said:

“Ignite was such an inspiring event, allowing creatives to network, share ideas and vision. There is so much excitement for what the future has in store for them, making the area such a great place to work and live in.”

The event included an evening of performances, installations, exhibitions, and live music, from:
Leamington Spa based dance-circus company, Motionhouse.
Warwick based musician and filmmaker James Braddell, who uses the stage name Funki Porcini.
Leamington Spa based Graphic designer, Gayatri Pasricha.

There was also an opportunity to have exclusive after-hours access to Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum’s new exhibition, Water, water, everywhere…

Tickets to Ignite 2023 were free, but attendees were encouraged to donate £5 to local charity The Myton Hospices – which supports people living with a terminal illness and their families from the point of diagnosis to the end of life.
