January courses will help Coventry young people get a head start in popular careers

A collection of 10-week education courses is being launched to help young people across the West Midlands find new careers after leaving school.

Coventry College is rolling out its ‘Get Into…’ programme next month, with a range of courses available to help young people specialise in a popular field before heading into full-time Further Education.

The courses, which are broken into pathways including Sports and Gaming, Media and Performing Arts, Construction and Building Services, and Business and Science, are aimed at young people aged 16-18 and get underway on Monday, January 16.

On completion of their studies, learners will be supported with careers advice and interview support should they wish to continue their progression with a full-time course at Coventry College in the September 2023 intake.

Learners will also have the opportunity to work towards additional English and Maths qualifications alongside their main pathway to boost their individual skills and ensure they have the required qualifications for further study.

Laura Johnson at Coventry College encouraged young people to register their interest as soon as possible, with enrolment due to take place from Monday, January 9. Young people can apply until January 5.

He said: “Our Get Into courses are a great way to help young people start the year right, and set them on the right path in a subject they are passionate about.

“They will participate in fun practical workshops, getting a taster for life at Coventry College and developing key vocational and personal skills.

“Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to access a one-to-one careers tutorial focussing on their next steps.

“We hope to welcome everyone who engages with us back in September to undertake a full qualification.”
