Coventry conference to highlight opportunities in sustainable packaging

A conference which highlights innovations and opportunities in sustainable packaging is set to take place in Coventry later this year.

The Environmental Packaging Summit will be held at Coventry Building Society Arena from Wednesday, November 2 to Thursday, November 3 – with attendees seeking to find out more about how the packaging supply chain can reduce its impact on the environment.

The two-day event, organised by industry-leading B2B title Packaging News, will feature debates and discussion from industry leaders, as the industry continues to address anti-plastic packaging concerns and the government prepares to introduce various new legislation.

Subjects from net zero and plastic reduction, to refillable packs and single-use plastics will be on the agenda. Its core focus will be on how government legislation is helping to shape the design and use of materials.

Speakers will feature from across the supply chain, from brands including Coca-Cola and Suntory, to waste management companies such as Suez.

Organisers say attendees will have the chance to explore pressing issues of sustainability, discover practical ways to reduce waste, and learn about new ways of conducting business.

Attendees will also be able to understand in greater depth the sustainability challenges and opportunities facing the industry, and raise their profiles through networking with high-level attendees.

The conference will also feature an exhibition showcasing the latest innovation and services.

Philip Chadwick, Editor of Packaging News, said: “The packaging industry has been in the headlines for many years, mostly around the focus on single-use plastic.

“Now in its third year, the Environmental Packaging Summit aims to move the discussion on from there, highlighting the industry’s positive impact while also examining the innovations. Designers and manufacturers continue to push boundaries, ensuring that packaging is fit for purpose and environmentally friendly.”
