The government has announced new legislative changes restricting a landlord’s ability to recover rent and other sums from tenants. This includes bans on forfeiture by peaceable re-entry until 30 September, a moratorium on the issue of statutory demands/presentation of winding up petitions until 30 September, and further changes to the utilisation of the Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery process.
In this live session, we will give an overview of the new Code of Practice to encourage productive dialogue between landlord and tenants to reach agreement on the payment of rent, ways to terminate leases if tenants are re-considering their property portfolios and consideration of some creative solutions landlords and tenants can consider to reach a mutually beneficial agreement on occupation and payment of lease sums.
