Midlands construction company seals new partnership to deliver pair of schemes worth more than £55m

A new partnership between a Midlands construction company and a leading specialist housing provider will see the delivery of two new schemes worth more than £55 million.

Deeley Group is working with Anchor to deliver two new independent living schemes in Sutton Coldfield and Peterborough.

Anchor is the largest not-for-profit provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life in England and the partnership sees Coventry-headquartered Deeley Group continue to expand its footprint in the housing sector.

The new schemes will create more than 200 independent living apartments for older people, including 137 high-quality apartments at the former Royal Works site on Coleshill Street, Sutton Coldfield.

Deeley will have delivered 624 extra care apartments and 258 care home beds in the housing and healthcare sectors over the past five years.

Deeley Group, through Deeley Developments, is providing a turnkey solution on the logistically challenging brownfield site in Sutton Coldfield, with the company acquiring the land and negotiating a Design and Build contract with Anchor.

Work is starting on both projects this month. The £35.9 million project in Sutton Coldfield will comprise two blocks with shared external areas. It is the largest value development in Deeley Construction’s history.

Deeley Construction was also successful in winning a competitive tender to deliver a £19.6 million highly sustainable 80 apartment independent living development at Silver Hill in Peterborough for Anchor. Both developments are being delivered with Homes England Funding.

Eleanor Deeley, Joint Managing Director at Deeley Group, said: “Partnerships have underpinned our growth in the healthcare sector in recent years and it is fantastic to be working with Anchor on these two new excellent schemes.

“Working with sector leaders such as Anchor further establishes our own reputation as a leader in the delivery of care, extra care, independent living and healthcare facilities across the Midlands.

“This also signals another major step forward for our business as the Sutton Coldfield development will be the highest value scheme the company has delivered in our near 90-year history.

“We look forward to working with Anchor to deliver these high-quality and sustainable schemes which will provide vital homes for hundreds of people in Sutton Coldfield and Peterborough.”

Patrick Duffy, Anchor’s Director of New Business, said: “I am delighted to be in partnership with the Deeley Group and these are two fabulous new schemes, which underpin our vision to deliver at least 500 new homes per year.

“Deeley has engaged with us very closely to achieve some very challenging deadlines and to help make the schemes viable in the face of rising cost inflation. I look forward to seeing so many new affordable homes completed in the next two years, which I’m sure will make a huge difference to the lives of hundreds of older people in the most acute housing need.”
