Council confirms funding to Warwick District Foodbank

Following the decision made at the Full Council meeting on 27 February, Warwick District Councillors met with staff and volunteers from the Warwick District Foodbank to formally confirm Council funding of £52,000 over the next financial year.

The grant, which is equivalent to £1000 per week, has been allocated from the Council’s 2023/24 budget to support the important work of local food banks in providing essential assistance to those in need.

Andy Bower, Warwick District Foodbank Operations Manager said:

"£1000 per week will enable us to purchase additional food and essential household items as we continue to support the lives of those most in need in our local community who are struggling. This grant will make a real difference and we are delighted that the Council has had the foresight to take this very positive initiative.”

Councillor Richard Hales, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Resources said:

" Warwick District Council is proud to support the important work of Warwick District Foodbank and I would like to express our gratitude to the volunteers and staff for their dedication and hard work in providing much needed assistance to so many in our community.”

"We recognise the critical role that food banks play in supporting people. We hope that this donation will make a positive impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling, particularly during these challenging times.”
