Jonathan Browning extends his term as CWLEP chairman

Jonathan Browning has underlined his commitment to the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) by agreeing to extend his term of office for a further 12 months.

Browning, who took over the role in the Spring of 2014, agreed to continue the role after a unanimous vote by the CWLEP Board.

He said: “I believe the CWLEP has made significant progress in the last few years and is making a tangible contribution to driving forward the economy of Coventry and Warwickshire. I am pleased to be continuing that work and hopefully seeing further significant advances in all our sectors.

“The private and public sector is very much pulling in the same direction and has very clear aims and objectives. There is a lot of work to be done but we are making significant strides.”

The news of Browning’s extension came as he was also elected chairman of British Cycling, the governing body of cycling in the UK, after less than two years on their board.

“Both are part-time, voluntary posts but both are exciting roles and both represent areas that I’m really passionate about,” he added.

“I am looking forward to the challenges they offer and to making a positive impact.”

Cllr George Duggins, Leader of Coventry City Council said: “I’m really pleased that Jon has decided to stay on as the chair at the CWLEP for another 12 months. I would like to congratulate Jon on his new role as chairman of British Cycling.

"Jon is committed to the success of Coventry and Warwickshire and I'm convinced that we will continue to benefit from his commitment, dedication and expertise.”
